teletubbies were truly frightening lol
this was the first time most people saw Dave with short hair and it was shocking
Food fighters is a horrible band. Nirvana was art.
People also forget just how young Dave was when he was in Nirvana.
Dave Grohl giving No Meaning to the Term Punk Rock. Such an insufferable Clown 🤡
why do you hate him so much
Har, har, parade...f this guy. Fake asf
Nirvana made music that the radio adapted to. Foo Fighters made music adapted to the radio.
Intellectual property is intellectual theft The DMCA is a scam File sharing is file caring
Silliness ensues😂😂😂
Thnx Dave for convincing me of pirating the Video Games of my childhood.😊
Oh Dave of 1999, you have no ideas what’s gonna happen in the 2000s. It’s so sad.
Good ol days of Foo Fighters
With that mustache he looks like a con man
I love how Pat always looks thrilled to be there. Also “I broke it” 😅 Dave: “oh”
The energy of the bands are the energy of their leaders. It’s them transmitted through the medium of music. How Dave described Nirvana is the same description of Kurt, and how he described FF is a description of him.
There were times when I felt disturbed listening to Nirvana on repeat. The Foos just make me want to jump and enjoy life - this is why I have loved them since 1994/5
I could never get into the foo fighters but Dave Grohl has gotta be one of the most solid human beings in the music industry
Is he wearing the same turtleneck as in Nirvana's unplugged?
KEANU REEVES OF ROCK
The difference between a real artist and greedy a-holes like Metallica.
This guy has a good view on music. He’s go gonna go places I bet.
how on earth would you dislike this video
Yeah, for a successful band that has fans already, perhaps. The problem is that the we can't have new music today, because good bands just can't get money selling their albums.
oy! seems like a bit antisemitic if you ask me
Seeing people comment on Lars Ulrich's take on the issue makes me smile. Metallica during the whole Napster mess really pounds home the advice that you should never seek to meet your heroes. Lars has always remained a total c*nt in my mind ever since and he and James turned me away from the band as a whole. There's just something about people who do their best to fleece the people that adore them that makes me nauseous.
I remember the only CD I ever had a copywright protection on was One by One. That meant I couldn't get the songs off the album to put on my flash drive mp3 player. That's Dave Grohl angry about me sharing music and accidentally preventing me from hearing his work that I paid for. Clearly he didn't have this same opinion from 1997 in 2002.
exactly , these corps wanna squeeze every penny , greedy if you ask me , most of the time the people that would download pirated stuff cant afford it anyway so you not loosing anything, i know this from experience lol , now that i make money i dont partake asmuch anymore , except for old things i cant get anyway
The guy from The Eagles employs a room full of people to actively go around online demonetising and copyright striking anyone who uses their music in order to make sure he doesn't lose out on any of the revenue. What a guy.
legend
i mean, it did kill the record industry. It lead to the streaming system which is a fraction of what record sales were. Streaming has the potential to go beyond through time but its only worked for older artist from the golden age of record sales so far. And at the rate we are advancing I assume we will enter the bronze age of record sales in the next 20 years.Virtual concerts and shows is how ppl are gonna make money. Streams and sales are gonne be nothing. Shit i doubt were even gonna charge for streams any more lmao. And again, artist from the golden age will be feasting again with the new advancements with Ai and virtual reality concert shows.
Dave Grohl based as ever
And now look where that attitude has brought him.. Cause and effect, baby. 🙂
I bet Mr. Mandatory Vaccine man would be singing a different tune if you asked him about this now.

He was right. And is still right. But especially when the internet exploded but before youtube, the only way bands became big internationally was because of piracy. Or well, there was a time before then where we relied on "filters" and "pushers", the record companies pushing certain music and bands, and radio hosts filtering it. But that slowly dissipated with the internet.
Part of what hurt them is that they were jacking up CD prices as file sharing was expanding. Had they kept their lrices reasonable, most people would have no problem buying the album. Sounded way better than those shitty 128kbps mp3s anyway.
It sounds like he’s describing Nirvanas energy as anxiety. That’s what anxiety basically is, anticipating something horrible all the time even when there’s nothing wrong and nothing is going on. A parade sounds more like putting on an actual show. A celebration of something. Good cheer all around.
He’s describing combustibility, perhaps from a distance. Anxiety is unpleasant. Is listening to Nirvana unpleasant?
certainly can be at times
It sounds like you're taking it and making your own interpretation
It’s not necessarily about anxiety. A lot of underground or punk bands to this day experience a level of combustibility and build up of energy that’s an integral part of the show. But, at the same time it can make the band pretty unstable in the long term, and it can even make a band implode. Nirvana hit the perfect notes between combustion and underground popularity that allowed them to break into the mainstream, it’s a dialectical relationship
exactly
Can't believe that's Jared Leto's dad
We were doing this in the 70’s, someone would buy an album they we’d make a cassette recording of it.🙄
That's not how he felt back then. Nirvana was adamantly against bootlegging of their music, and you can hear them complain about it on multiple live recordings. I bet Dave's views have changed even more so now, ever since he lied about his views in this interview from 1997.
Of course he was already filthy rich when he was saying this.
So was Metallica. So was Michael Jackson. His point was that it's wrong for musicians to interfere with music sharing. And his logic has worked. The bands that have tried to squeeze pennies out of music sharing have terrible PR, while bands that promote freedom to share anything online do very well. Record labels that refused to share on youtube became redundant and artists that tried to get people arrested or fined for downloading music, their music dropped in value
And of course you have guys like Corey Taylor and David Ellefson and Brann Dailor and more who all think Lars was right. But you're conveniently ignoring those and inserting your own beliefs into the mix because you're more interested in hearing someone echo chambering your own beliefs than anything else.@@ltisenotem
God damn he's been based since day 1 huh
i like this guy
Of course Grohl was cool. And of course metallica were phagots.
Whoa!!! Maybe he's not so bad after all. Totally not what I expected.
let’s call it what it really is: torrenting; aka downloading a backup of the media YOU ALREADY OWN via a peer to peer network. Piracy is the stealing of digital content, and the government needs proof that someone doesn’t own a copy of the media. Tricky tricky…
Go play their song in the background of your UA-cam video and see what happens lol
